Questions, questions, questions Model III 25years old

Postby rhoekie » 12 Apr 2008, 16:06

hi, i'm René and have restart my TRS-80 mod III after 25 years and still working.

But my TRS is still 48 KB, is it possible to upgrade, like the model I, to higher memmory ?

i have also some 51/4" diskettes and can't read them, because i don't know the pdrive settings anymore. can i resolve those settings.

they are patched with index hole so you can flip them in the drive to use them on both sites, so i know they must be made on a single sided drive, but the rest ???

Last question for now, is sombody willing to contact me by phone or mail to talk about the TRS-80 and the possibillities on hardware level for what i can upgrade or make changes to my TRS-80 model III.

With regards,
René van den Hoek

Hi Rene,
Once upon a time about 50 hardware boards have been made to increase Model III's memory, I guess to 576 kb.
However, I don't have any left.
Those boards were constructed around a PAL (Programmable Array Logic, or something like that).

Some (unprogrammed) PALs are to be found in the attic, somewhere, it happens to be a huge attic. Whether the PAL programmer would still work... Those boards were used around 1984... (I guess)

The schematic could be reproduced if you were willing to make a board yourself.

Please visit us at Noorddamcentrum, Bovenkerk, probably the 2nd Thursday evening in May or June.

Good luck, we wish to hear more.
